45 Seconds
45 Seconds is a web-based interactive work commissioned by
Turbulence, with funds from the Greenwall Foundation. It premiered May 15, 2004.
45 Seconds is a collection of discrete, explicitly timed experiences or happenings in New York City streets and subways, each with a clear beginning and endpoint, presented in an interface with video, graphics and sound. Videos are presented in both "raw" form and music video form.
Sound drives the interface and organization of the piece. A quantized or metric sound grid, based on the "ticking off" of the duration of each event, is embedded in interactions with the piece and superimposed on each video.
